Hello Gert Lushers
We’d like to declare the second The Gert Lush Vintage Bicycle Jamboree open for entries at www.thegertlush.com!
The ride takes place on Sunday May 3 and we’re looking forward to seeing friends old and new as we were blown away by the response to our first event last year.
As well as our 35 and 65 mile rides, for 2020 we have an added twist, a VE Day 1945 theme. This isn't militaristic but to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the outbreak of peace in Europe and honour the sacrifices of those involved.
So we’ll have period entertainment and refreshments along the way with a street party finale to rejuvenate your tired bones in the same venue as last year, Long Ashton Community Centre.
As ever, any old bikes are welcome and you don’t need to have pre-1945 bikes or costumes. The only rule is no full carbon.
To celebrate the VE Day theme we are offering free places to the first five people who can email their pre-1945 bicycle and the period clothes that they’ll wear to The Gert Lush to firstname.lastname@example.org Please include your name, email, number, address and date of birth.
We'd love you to forward this email to anyone you think would be interested in coming as we want to grow The Gert Lush into an annual event that is at the heart of vintage cycling.
That said, entries are capped this year to ensure we can maintain the same great atmosphere and intimacy as our first event.
We’d also welcome anyone who perhaps can’t ride but fancies volunteering on the day – email us at email@example.com
The Gert Lush is on the same weekend as Bespoked, Bristol’s handmade bicycle show at Temple Meads so anyone planning a festival of cycling can pop into Bespoked on Friday or Saturday and then join us on Sunday.
